The construction of an index system of durable development in Danube Region

Durable development is a concept related with present and future generations, including also social, economical and environmental aspects and objectives. This is why, an index system must reflect different types of capital (human, economic and ecologic) and must follow the relations between these domains and the answers, feed-back reactions, from natural and human subsystems (social behavior, environmental, social and economical policy). For the Danube Region, the construction of such an index system is requisite and useful, first of all because of the huge potential of durable development, and also because of the differences between different levels of socio-economical development in Danube riverside countries, which need a global and coherent orientation of social, economical and ecological politics.
