Spatio-temporal analysis of EU agricultural production (assigned to theme
In this paper the intertemporal development of the spatial distribution of the agricultural production and land use in the territory of the EC-9 (the country-composition of 1973) is analysed. The analysis is based on a data set of repeated observations over a period of 50 years (1950-2000) on 86 fixed regions. It consists of yield and land use of seven arable crops and five types of animals. The aim is to estimate the spatial coherence of the above mentioned variables, taking into account the intertemporal development. For this purpose the coefficient of Gini will be divided in a spatial and a temporal part. For the spatial coherence the G* statistic, as developed by Getis & Ord (1992) is used. The single score of a region then will be explained from the actual G* and from the scores in the past.
