Fluidity is a central value in today economy and large metropolitan areas are supposed to provide this fluidity on the job market. However a sprawl dynamics affects residential locations and job places that tends to counteract the required fluidity. Moreover, this dynamics is suspected to act with different force according to social status of the workers. This research analyses the situation in the Paris area in France. It uses the concept of accessibility to assess the potential share of the job market for different social groups and aims to measure to what extend the spatial distribution of the residences of the different categories of workers, the spatial distribution of their respective workplaces and their different access to transportation modes limit individual accessibility to job places. Thus, huge differences in the personal potential job market are observed according to social groups.
