The impact of the transportation system on regional economic performance – some experiences from model development in Sweden (assigned to theme
Today several models have been developed to assess regional development effects of measures in the transportation system; e.g. SASI and CGEurope in the EU/TEN-context. In the Swedish transport policy context some less comprehensive models have been developed. This paper presents ongoing work aiming at integrating and improving some of these models, which at present mainly address effects on the interregional location of firms and households. One topic is concerning the inclusion of effects on regional income; another concerns the representation of accessibility as endogenous variables. Spatial effects in the econometrics will also be considered.
