The WTP for facilities at the Amsterdam South-axis (assigned to theme K1)

This paper reports the results of a stated preference study into the Willingness-to-pay (WTP) of employees at the Amsterdam South-axis for both non-shopping and shopping facilities, based on questions about preferences for the design of such an area and the value that employees attribute to it. The Amsterdam South-axis is the largest multifunctional land use project currently under development in The Netherlands. After correcting for selectivity and censoring, the results show that employees have the highest WTP for day-care centres and sport facilities, and the lowest for public transport facilities. Moreover, the average WTP for non-shopping facilities amounts to approximately 11 Euro's per month per employee. Preliminary estimation of the WTP for shopping facilities amounts to 21 Euro’s per month per employee.
