The Influence Mechanism of Land Use on Flood Disaster in the Low-lying Wetlands (assigned to theme P2)

In China, the low-lying wetlands in downstream delta areas of great rivers and lakes have developed fastest and attracted much more estate and population in recent years. They stepped into a quick urbanization. However, the process of urbanization, especially landscape urbanization in those areas, has directly changed regional landscape structure on a large scale. Subsequently, the ratio of wetlands and water areas of river and lake was decreased greatly and the original ecological function was destroyed a lot which increase the risk of flood disaster (the changes of flood disasters which happened in China in the past five decades have shown that flood disaster is increasing obviously). Considering the significance of the low-lying wetlands in China, we should study the mechanism among land use pattern, the change process and flood disaster much carefully. Dongting Lake is the second fresh water lake in China and has many typical low-lying wetlands. So, this paper chooses the Dongting Lake in Hunan Province as our research object. Through a series of survey in field with technological instruments and doing questionnaire for the random sample, we are familiar with the land cover and land use pattern in this area. Based on this, we analyzed the function of land use changes in flood disasters and put forward proper mitigation strategies in Dongting Lake.
