Quantification of economic benefits of multifunctional urban land use; an empirical analysis (assigned to theme J1)

Multifunctional land use projects concentrate and combine several socio-economic functions in the same area, so as to save scarce space and to exploit synergies. However, the realisation of a multifunctional design is often difficult, due to financial restrictions and potential adverse spatial effects. We employ stated preference techniques to obtain information about goals and preferences of different actors in a multifunctional land use project in Amsterdam. This eventually enables us to determine the willingness to pay of different types of actors for a multifunctional urban design.
