In addition, participants may visit interesting institutes and firms in the neighbouring Dortmund Technology Centre - one of the most successful technology ventures in Germany.

Machinery Hall

The CONGRESS DINNER takes place in the machinery hall of the exhibition coal mine "Zollern II/IV". Built in the early 20th century, it used to claim state-of-the-art technology which is reflected in its technical infrastructure and industrial architecture ("Neo Baroque" of the late 19th century).

"Zollern" was shut down in 1966, saved from destruction in 1969 and today features exhibitions on the social and cultural history of the mining sector in the Ruhr area. A guided tour will be offered to interested congress delegates. It will feature a close look at the garden-city settlement, which surrounds Zollern which is typical for the old mining settlements in this region.
