One of the core competencies of demographers is simulating and projecting population evolution over time. In the last decade or so demographic methods are also being applied to the study of industrial and organisational dynamics. These applications are mostly directed towards description and analysis of birth and survival of firms and organisations. This paper explores the possibilities of using demographic forecasting methods for industrial dynamics scenario making. A number of theoretical issues will be addressed, as well as database requirements and the structure of the model. Special attention will also be given to the spatial dimension, which includes spatial interaction processes and agglomeration economies. The linkages between these concepts and the demography of the firm are hardly explored until now.
